Relatives Accused – Salem Witch Trials

The following is an attempt to document my relatives accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trial time period.  It’s interesting to me that few adult men in my family were arrested.  Links are to the brief biographies I’ve completed so far.

Edmund Ingalls appears to be the common ancestor of this first group of people.  He was not accused.  Edmund Ingalls is my 10x great-Grandfather.

  • Elizabeth Ingalls, Edmund’s daughter, was married to Francis Dane.  He was accused but never arrested.
    • Abigail Dane Faulkner – their daughter, accused and arrested
    • Elizabeth Dane Johnson – their daughter, accused and arrested
      • Elizabeth Johnson – her daughter, accused and sentenced to death, not executed.
      • Abigail Johnson – her daughter, accused and arrested
      • Stephen Johnson – her son, accused and arrested
    • Deliverance Hazeltine Dane– their daughter-in-law, accused and arrested.
    • Male servant – accused and arrested
  • Faith Ingalls, Edmund’s daughter, was married to Andrew Allen.  neither accused
    • Mary Allen Toothaker – their daughter, accused and arrested as was her husband Roger Toothaker.  Roger died in prison.
    • Martha Allen Carrier – accused and hanged
      • Thomas Carrier – accused and arrested
      • Andrew Carrier – accused and arrested
      • Richard Carrier – accused and arrested
      • Sarah Carrier – accused and arrested

The following do not appear to be directly related to the above relatives.  Mary Ayer Parker’s sister Sarah married the above Abigail Faulkner Lamson’s husband’s grandfather.  A connection but not a direct relationship.
